Always on the lookout for new techniques to try, I came across the Faux Denim technique and thought it would pair nicely with the new Geared Up Garage stamp set.
Faux Demin is where you take lighter coloured cardstock - in this case I used Balmy Blue - and "swipe" the end of the inkpad across the cardstock - I used Night of Navy - in both directions to give the appearance of denim. You can choose how dark you want the colour by adding more swipes. Just a tip though - it get's messy lol
Firstly, I prepared quite a few pieces of Faux Denim in different shades.
For this card, I mixed up some Embossing Paste with a small drop of Night of Navy Reinker and mixed slightly so as not totally change the paste to a sold blue. Then take a stencil, lay across the cardstock and using a palette knife, spread the paste over the stencil to fill the holes. Set aside to dry or set with the heat tool. Using Night of Navy Inkpad, I stamped the car onto watercolour paper and used the aquapainter to colour.
For this card I white heat embossed the car on a leftover piece of faux denim, where the colour was the lightest.
This car image on this card was black heat embossed onto Silver Foil.
